About Us
Gurukul Introduction
“Gurukul” is a non-profit organization dedicated to working in the area of Demonstration, Analysis and Capacity building with the help of In-formal education system. We are working as a support system of education since last 23 years. The main objective of this organization is to support our In-formal education system on a large scale by bridging the gap of its key stakeholders i.e. parents, teachers and students.
Gurukul is exclusively providing its services to economically weaker students in rural and suburban areas. Gurukul identifies the causes of distraction in students. Tries to bring their attention back to studies. They are directed towards various training programs to earn a living. Gurukul does not leave its students alone under any circumstances.
This program is run with the help of the School Education Department and Higher Education Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Therefore this process of change should be authenticated and supported by the school principals and other officials involved in the education of this section of the society..
Our organization is a subsidiary (NGO) of the Education Department of Madhya Pradesh Government. We have also worked with VidyaBharati, SevaBharati, Rose Mary Group and other private educational institutions. Everyone has recognized our work.
We started our work with 7 districts, after positive results we expanded our work to 17 districts, and now we are working in 54 districts with approximately 200000 students.
Gurukul is a research institute that strives to identify and solve future problems in the next 50 years. Gurukul analyzes those reasons, and decides the direction of work for the next 50 years. Among these reasons, education related, health related, technology related (mobile and AI etc.), environmental and economic problems are considered important. Apart from this we are equipped with our own tool applications, supporting organizations like Aryavart, NarmadapurYuva Mandal and newspaper Pragati Path. We also have our own website. On which the journey of the last 23 years can be seen.

how it was started
**A Journey Towards Infinity**
In 2002, a 12-year-old girl named Jaya, along with her two younger siblings and grandmother, used to sell flowers and oil in front of the Shani Temple in Juni Indore. One day, our founder, Mr. Paresh Pathak, tried to give her some extra money besides the cost of the items. Jaya stood up and said that she was not a beggar and did not want the extra money.
At that moment, Mr. Pathak realized that this girl had exceptional talent and was very self-respecting. He spoke with her grandmother and arranged for her education and livelihood, along with providing financial assistance to manage her work.
Gradually, Jaya learned computers through the State Literacy Mission, became a computer operator, and also helped her younger siblings get an education and earn a living.
Such incidents are common in cities like Bhopal and Indore. The foundation supported such children, who stayed with their struggling parents, from 2002 to 2007.
In 2007, some members of the foundation decided to distribute sweets at the JeevanJyoti Rehabilitation Home in Rau, Indore, during Diwali. Many members were already running various programs in this institution. During this time, they met another girl, Maya, who often claimed that her parents lived in a nearby village and would come to take her during festivals and summer vacations.
For the first time, the foundation learned that Maya’s parents had abandoned her when she was three years old and never returned. Many such girls were growing up in this institution. The members taught Maya and many other girls modern skills and knowledge.
This journey then extended to schools. From 2009, the foundation started examining students in various schools for eye, hair, and skin diseases, and began educating them about vitamins A, E, and D. They discovered issues related to physical changes among girls from 6th to 12th grade, which caused various diseases and psychological problems. But there was no one to explain these issues to them.
Many students started getting very anxious. Some girls often complained of headaches, backaches, lack of appetite, etc. The foundation gathered information about these problems with various doctors and psychologists to understand the causes behind them.
From 2011, the foundation continuously collected information about the students’ physical and mental changes and their family environment. Then, understanding the gap between students and teachers, the foundation began its work.
The foundation discussed topics with students that teachers and parents did not talk about. For this work, the foundation never took money from any other organization or individual.
By 2014, it was decided that this work should be done institutionally to expand its scope. Hence, the foundation was registered under the Madhya Pradesh government. During this period, the foundation continuously worked with various schools under the Madhya Pradesh Education Department, such as the old "SafaltaBal Vinay Mandir" schools.
Between 2014 and 2016, the foundation specialized in exam stress among students, conducted programs throughout the state with the Juvenile Justice Board, and counseled over 200,000 students in Indore in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh Police Department.
During this period, there was a significant decrease in the suicide rate among students, and various newspapers prominently covered this news.
By 2017-18 and 19, the foundation expanded to seven districts in Madhya Pradesh: Indore, Dhar, Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Sagar, Raisen, and Dewas.
Recognizing this work, the Madhya Pradesh government gave the foundation the opportunity to work in government schools to improve the quality of education. During this time, the system developed by the foundation was recognized as an auxiliary system of education, and the foundation began to assist teachers and principals by identifying weak students.
The Madhya Pradesh government allowed the foundation to work first in 7 districts, then 17 districts, and finally all 52 districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Thus, this foundation, which started with one student, is now supporting over 50,000 students every month, including completely illiterate, school dropouts, and weak students in education.
It has been repeatedly mentioned that the foundation does not charge any fees to run its program. The foundation relies entirely on CSR activities. In the future, the foundation aims to get the "non-formal education program" recognized throughout Madhya Pradesh and the nation to help more students overcome their difficulties.
A large program has been set up by various experts, team members, and district coordinators associated with the foundation, which works through the support of its volunteers.
Vision
Education is a part of the culture. Our modern education system is greatly influenced by western tradition. Due to this, Indian culture, traditions and cultural valuesare being diminished.
In such a situation, education has become only a means of earning a living. We need to adopt the same method as the Gurukul method in the Indian Sanatan culture, in which the cooperation of the students was important. Until the lesson was fully inculcated in the student, they were not encouraged to move forward, rather they were encouraged to understand the values and learnings of the lessons.
The students used to do their own research on the topics and convert it into real knowledge.
Today, despite getting knowledge from many types of degrees, the student is devoid of knowledge of that subject. Therefore, they do not get proficiency in the subjects studied.
Gurukul tries to give information to the students on small subjects through In-formal education and then motivate the student to research and study. This motivation after a time is converted into knowledge by continuous effort of the students.
Trinetra
It is a continuous process of Introspection, creation and making oneself, which helps in removing various types of shortcomings in personality.
It is the effort of the teachers of Gurukul that students should identify different types of problems, irrespective of caste, class, religion, region or class, and present them among the teachersand parents.
After this, everyone together try to overcome those shortcomings, thosewho have problem in writing, they explain the problems through verbal or visual expressions as well. The changes that happen while learning from past mistakes are defined in numbers. This process of improvement passes through evaluation and its witnesses are family members, teachers, and the students themselves.
